My flight attendant spilled an entire glass of water on my 1 year old.

So my family of 3 (me, my wife, and our 1 year old son) was flying first class with an airline. We were sitting in row 1. I know they’re very strict on not letting kids in first class, so I was sure to make reservations in advance and inform the airline of our infant.

We get on the plane, and it’s a brand new plane. Everything is pristine, and we have all the amenities (lie flat beds, etc.) . We buckle our son in the baby seat they provided, and we get comfortable for the long haul flight.

About 10 minutes into the flight, a flight attendant comes over to serve drinks. I ask for a small cup of OJ, and my wife asks for a sparkling water. They both bring us our drinks, and as they are handing them out, the female flight attendant loses her grip on the cup, and SPILLS an entire full cup of water all over my 1 year old son, his chair, and the floor.

It was so fast, and it was a big cup, so it was a lot of water. Of course my son started screaming, as any parent knows, and I started freaking out trying to figure out what to do.

The flight attendant didn’t even say sorry, she just walked away. My wife asked her to come back and clean up the spill, and she just kept ignoring us. My wife tried to grab some tissues from the bathroom to dry my son off, but there weren’t enough, and there was still water dripping off the bottom of his onesie.

I stood up and went to the galley and asked all the flight attendants what the plan of action was. They all just said they’d call the purser (the highest ranking FA on the plane) to come clean him up.

About 10 minutes go by, and still no purser. I went up to a business class passenger and asked if they had any towels they could give us, and they did. My wife used that to dry my son off. The flight attendant still hadn’t come back to clean up the floor, so I went up to the galley again and asked again. She finally came over and mopped up the floor, but didn’t bring him anything to wear or give him a blanket. She just kept saying “I’m sorry.”

After that incident, my son was terrified of flying, and wouldn’t stop screaming. They ended up giving him a sedative, which made him extremely fussy, and he ended up throwing up.

We ended up filing a complaint with the airline. They offered us a refund and a credit towards a future trip, but that doesn’t really help us, since my son is terrified of flying now and won’t go on another trip for a long time.

TLDR; Flight attendant spilled water all over my 1 year old on our lie flat beds first class flight. Didn’t apologize and didn’t offer any clothes or blankets to dry him off.
