What’s the craziest or funniest travel mistake you’ve ever made?

We’ve been traveling for over two months now, and we had our fair share of mistakes, some funny, some annoying, but mostly harmless. But one mistake made me realize that I almost missed a flight. I was so confused and upset, and the airline agent was not helpful at all, just kept telling me to go back to the gate.

One morning, I was standing at a bus stop, waiting to go to the airport. My wife was not with me. She was in a coffee shop for a morning coffee. I was waiting at the wrong stop. I was supposed to meet a friend, and he gave me directions to the bus stop. The directions were correct, but I woke up late and was confused and in a rush, and the stop I was at was not the stop my wife was at.

My friend was going back to work the same day I was leaving, so he was not going to the same airport. The bus I took ended up taking me to his airport instead of mine. I didn’t know the bus driver spoke no English, and my phone had no battery, so I couldn’t even warn my wife. When I arrived at the airport, I saw my friend at the same gate as me. He was also going to the same destination. Luckily, I knew that my wife was going to be at the same gate. When we both got to our gate, my wife was not there. She never showed up, so they made me pay the next flight.

Turns out, my wife had gotten on the right bus and was at the right airport but was lost. She didn’t know what gate I was on and ended up taking a taxi. It turned out to be the worst traffic day ever, and she didn’t arrive until hours later. She took another flight.

This mistake caused us to spend more than $300 on a last-minute ticket. We also lost a day of traveling, which I really regret, especially because we lost a day of traveling because we took different flights. We never did find out why the traffic was so bad.
