I was trying to convince my partner that this is real

So my partner has been on the fence about the idea of the simulation theory for a while now. Recently I found a really good YouTube channel that explains everything in simple terms for someone who has no prior knowledge of the subject and I showed it to my partner. He still wasn't entirely convinced and I decided to go all in and show him every single video I had been watching for the past 24 hours. I started to really make him think and I could tell it was really getting through to him. I showed him the out of body experience videos, the near death experience videos, the glitches videos and everything else. Then I was scrolling through YouTube and stumbled across a really interesting video talking about a secret government facility that is testing out real life "Matrix" tech. The video is called "Project Kyrium" if anyone's interested. I was trying to convince my partner that we need to get into a gym and work out because we will need to survive in the simulated world when the simulation is shut down. Then I got a text message from my friend that said "what if we're all just simulated AI". I told him that this is a stupid joke and that this isn't real. He replied "I was just thinking about this because I found out about a secret facility called project kyrium where they're making a real life matrix. Maybe it's true". This is the part where I got really worried and started looking at my life in a different light. I looked at my friend and asked him if this was real and he said it was. I didn't believe him for a second and I asked him to send me the link to the video and he did. It was the same video I was just watching with my partner. He said that he found the link a few months ago but never looked into it because he thought it was a conspiracy theory. I told him that if the simulated world is real then every conspiracy theory is actually real because it is a simulated world. He said "what does that even mean" and I said "the government can do whatever they want in the simulated world, no one will ever know, no one will ever care". He said "you know what, maybe I'm starting to believe this stuff now. Maybe there is a simulated reality and maybe we all have AI brains, maybe we're all just AI". He was serious and I felt like shit. I asked if he was okay and he said "no, but I don't know what to do anymore". I told him to just enjoy his life and don't worry about it because if there is a simulated reality then nothing matters, you can do whatever you want, there are no consequences. He just looked at me with a weird look in his eyes and said "what do you mean there are no consequences? If we die in the real world then we die forever". I was confused and asked him "if we're all just simulated AI, then what is death?". He said "then we would die forever" and I said "if we're just simulated AI, then there is no real world". I could tell he was getting more serious about this stuff and he told me that we need to start working out and learning survival skills because we don't know if this stuff is real or not, so why not be safe. I told him I didn't want to do that and he told me that we could still watch TV and play video games, just in case the simulation shuts down. I didn't know what to say. I told him that I'm not convinced and he said that he's not either but he's going to prepare for the possibility that it's real. I said "well maybe we'll both be surprised and it won't be real" and he replied "yeah maybe". He's been acting strange since then and I'm starting to think that maybe we should all just start preparing for this stuff. Maybe we should all start going to the gym, maybe we should all learn survival skills. I'm not trying to be some sort of crazy doomsdayer who is preparing for the end of the world but at the same time I don't want to just be a sheep and blindly follow society. Maybe we should all start preparing for the possibility that the simulated reality will shut down. I'm going to bed now.
