One night in December, 2017 my best friend (Kaito) and I (Ty) decided that we would take a trip to Tokyo Japan for a week. The whole idea of the trip was just to be a fun trip and have some good times in a place we’ve never been before.

The trip went very well until the last night where we decided that we would go out and just walk around. It was around midnight, and we had been walking around for about an hour when we saw a really good restaurant. We were both pretty tired and decided that we would eat there.

I (Ty) walked up to the door, and I could see inside through the window. The restaurant looked amazing and I was super excited to eat there. When I stepped inside and looked at the seat where I would sit, I realized that it was reserved. I didn’t think much of it and figured that they wouldn’t seat us anyway.

I sat back down, and I asked if they had any seats available. The waiter just shook his head and said no. Then after another second of me waiting he finally said, “Actually, I have an open seat. If you take that seat, I’ll give you a special meal that is on the house.” I was super surprised and excited by his offer and replied, “Thank you so much! I really appreciate this! We’re from America, so we’ve never been here before.” He smiled and said, “That’s really cool. I’ve always wanted to visit America, so it’s my pleasure.”

The waiter walked over to me and dropped of two full meals, two plates of ramen. He then walked over to Kaito and dropped off his meal as well. We were both really surprised, but we thanked him for his kindness and said, “Banzai!” (Which just means cheers in Japanese.)

We ate our whole meal, and I couldn’t believe how good it tasted. The noodles were so delicious, and it was just overall amazing. When we were finishing up our meal, the waiter came over and said, “I hope you guys enjoyed your meal. If you ever come back to Japan I hope that you’ll come back to this place again. You are really cool guys.”

I stood up and said, “Thank you so, so much. I really appreciate that. We will definitely come back to Japan in the future, and we will definitely come back to this restaurant. You’re really cool too.” I tipped him, and then we left the restaurant.

Kaito turned to me and said, “Man, that was really nice of him. I really like Japan.” I agreed and we just kept walking. We walked around for another hour before we found a spot to sleep. We woke up the next morning, and both remembered the nice man who gave us the free meal. We were both super thankful for him, and we really hope that we will get to see him again in the future.
