I've been jacked by a scammer posing as Apple Support. You probably have been too.

A few days ago, out of the blue, a lady claiming to be from "Apple Support" called me. I answered because I thought it'd be funny to see how far she could take the con. I know a lot of these scammers work in groups, and by talking to one, I can probably gather info on how they work.<br><br>Claims she's from Apple Support, and that she's reaching out because there is an "open dispute" on my account. I know I haven't contacted Apple about anything recently, and neither have they contacted me, so I'm pretty sure this is a scam. I ask her why there's a dispute, and she won't answer.<br><br>She tells me to turn my phone on my computer on, and put AirDrop on my phone and computer. I do this, and see no transfer options, which I verify is not supposed to happen if you haven't allowed it.<br><br>She claims it's because "your computer is infected with malware" and that she needs to remotely access it. I don't trust this, so I tell her she can go f\*ck herself and hang up.<br><br>The reason I'm posting this is that my wife's uncle just had over $6,000 stolen from him. He got a call from "Apple Support" claiming his account was locked and they needed his login information so they could "unlock" it. He gave it to them, and a short while later, it was gone.<br><br>The thing is, he had over $200,000 in his account, so the fact that they only stole $6,000 is what convinced him that they were really from Apple. They only took what they thought he could "afford to lose" to see if they could get away with it. He had been doing well financially, and thought that the amount they stole couldn't hurt him.<br><br>This scam has been around for years, but I'm sure I'm not the only person who hasn't fallen for it. Has anyone else been targeted by this, or a similar scam?<br><br>**TL;DR!** My wife's uncle got called by a scammer claiming to be from Apple Support, and gave them his login information, and now he's out $6,000.
