There's going to be a bloodbath at Microsoft before the end of 2024, and I don't just mean the Satya layoff announcement.

Satya announced 7k layoffs last week and while it wasn't a bad number for a company his size, he didn't get into too many details. What he didn't say was far more telling. There was no mention of cutting back on acquisitions. There was no mention of slowing down on new product releases and the associated spending. There was no mention of reducing headcount growth in key divisions like AI, cloud, or gaming.

Satya's future at Microsoft is now very much in question. If we combine the poor earnings report with the board's recent re-shuffling efforts, there's a very good chance Satya won't be CEO for too much longer. The question is how long until he's ousted before the end of 2024? The guy is an acquired taste and a very big risk-taker who has made several questionable decisions that are finally starting to come back to haunt him.
