I’m convinced that Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard will be the death of the Xbox

I’m not sure why, but it just feels like Xbox is going to get lost in the shuffle of a giant company that is focused on other things.

I have always loved Xbox and even through the Kinect era, I stuck with it. Even when it looked like they were abandoning third-party titles, I stuck it out. Xbox is still my go to console. I have been a gold, then game, then ultimate subscriber for years. I purchase a new Xbox with every hype cycle.

But with this acquisition and the lack of communication from Microsoft, I am starting to feel like they could shift the focus to their PC offerings and completely leave the console behind. They have a massive line up of Activision Blizzard titles and even a deal with NVIDIA to put games on their cloud offering.

The purchase came through and all I heard was a very vague promise that games would come to the console. That is it. No details on which titles, when, none of that. I don’t believe that they don’t know what they are doing because they are a very organized company, so they do know what’s going on.

I understand that they have to learn how to run the company, but I feel like console gamers are on the back burner.
