Why are people so anti Google?

I was just having a conversation in another thread with someone about how they changed the settings for their phone home screen, and then someone commented about how they changed the default app on their home screen to something else (I think it was YouTube).

I've been using Android phones for the past 4 years and I'm curious why people are against Google? I feel like Google is one of the most trustworthy companies out there, especially when it comes to tech, and I love all of their services. I think they're really good at implementing technology into our daily lives in a way that's useful and convenient, and they do it in a very intuitive way.

I can understand if someone doesn't want their search engine to be Google, because they don't want Google knowing what they're searching for and to avoid Google getting advertising revenue, but I don't really get why people wouldn't use Google apps. Is it because they hate the way the apps look and operate?
