I am a 50 years old that grew up with Microsoft products. I started programming in the 1980's and owned an IBM PC/2. At that time you could choose between MS-DOS or CP/M and a bunch a devices to build your own PC. Later I owned an Amiga 1000 and a Mac 512k. At that time IT was not yet a mainstream. You could go to most computer stores and talk with the owner about the latest developments in IT.

Later I switched to a PC and was never again a Microsoft hater. But I was surrounded by Microsoft products. My colleagues used Microsoft Office and we had Exchange for e-mail. I started to hate the click wheel on the iPhone. It was so difficult to navigate. And the keyboard was not better. At that time there were almost no other smartphones than Blackberry, iPhone and Windows. So I started to use an iPhone. I hated it. Slow, no cut and paste, no 3rd party apps and so on. Later Microsoft launched the Kin, a social phone and closed the division. It was too late.

Later I switched to Android. My colleagues used Google Apps and we had Gmail. Android allowed me to use Google Calendar, Google Maps and other Google Apps on a device. I never switched back to an iPhone.

The last weeks I started to hate Windows again. Microsoft pushed out edge as the standard browser without asking me. Edge does not support uBlock Origin. Microsoft wants me to use Microsoft News to read news. I need to create another account. Microsoft wants to force me to use Bing, by not allowing uBlock Origin in Edge.

And the Play Store is so much better than the Microsoft and Apple App Stores. It shows a brief description of the permissions an app needs instead of 3000 words of legal text.

I use Windows on my desktop because I need Visual Studio and other tools that are not yet available on Android. But I hate Microsoft again.

The world was divided between Apple and Microsoft fans. I see a growing divide between Android and Windows users.
