So, I (35m) have a Michelin star. It’s a big deal. I’ve been working as a chef for about 15 years and it’s taken a lot of hard work to get to where I am today. My last restaurant was really well reviewed, and I’m very proud of it.

I’ve been married for 6 years and my wife (34f) is amazing. Her brother is a total tool though. He’s (41m) a work of art in terms of everything he gets wrong. He’s not successful, he’s rude, and he’s always complaining. Every time we see him, he finds a way to ruin the mood.

It bothers me because I don’t want to think that my success is the reason for his bad attitude. But honestly, it kind of feels like it is. Whenever he talks to me, he always brings up how much more successful I am than him. It’s gross and makes me uncomfortable. I’ve tried to ignore it, but it’s hard when he keeps pushing the issue.

I’m starting to think he’s jealous. Like, maybe he wishes he had a Michelin star or as much money as I do. I don’t know if he’s just insecure or if he’s actually mad at me for something. I’ve tried to talk to him about it, but he always denies it and says he’s just happy for me.

I’ve been wondering if I should be worried about him. Should I be worried that he’ll try to ruin my reputation or sabotage my career? I know it sounds dramatic, but I just can’t shake the feeling that he’s hiding something.

Tl;dr I (35m) have a Michelin star and my brother in law (41m) is rude and jealous. Should I be worried?
