Why is Chambers so pro-communist?

I don’t understand why Chambers is so pro-communist. I know Chambers isn’t the place, but why would people think that communism would be good? The fact that the American government, which is a democratic government, is able to give out stimulus checks is a testament to the power of a democratic government. Why would people think that communism is a better system of government?
