As a man, you'll never fully understand what it's like to be a woman. You can use your imagination, you can ask women questions, you can read their answers on a screen or hear them firsthand, but you will always be lacking a complete and full understanding of the experience.

The same is true for any demographic group you find yourself outside of. You will never fully understand what it is like to be black, gay, Muslim, Asian, etc. There may be certain aspects of your experience that I as a member of said group can explain to you in detail that you could never hope to understand on your own, and vice versa.

So what does it mean to truly "understand" someone, and what can you do as a man to try and better understand women?
