I'm an ex-agnostic atheist (in no particular order), and have been studying philosophy for a bit. I'm trying to reconcile the gap between materialism, atheism, and agnosticism.

Materialism, as I understand, is the belief that everything is composed of physical matter and nothing else, that everything is physical.

Atheism is the lack of faith in God.

Agnosticism is the belief that we don't know whether or not God exists.

The gap I'm trying to reconcile is that I used to be an agnostic because I didn't know whether or not God exists. However, I've come to realize that God, as an all-knowing entity, cannot exist because everything in the universe is composed of matter.

But then I thought about this: if God cannot exist in the physical realm, then perhaps God exists beyond the physical realm, which contradicts materialism. But I still think God cannot exist because matter is all we know.

So the question I have is how do we reconcile these two opposing views? Or are they irreconcilable? Or maybe we need a new philosophy that doesn't rely on these three?

I apologize if this is a stupid question. I'm still learning philosophy and I'm not familiar with any other philosophies that could reconcile this.
