Atheists are better than religious people?

I have always felt that atheists are better than religious people, even though religious people are more numerous. They are often more compassionate and more morally upright, and they tend to live in peace with others even if they disagree. They often live in harmony with their fellow humans, even if they disagree on major topics like religion, whereas religious people often live in hostility with one another, even if they share the same religion.
