What if all your thoughts were made by someone else in a lab? How would that change your views on things?

This is inspired by the movie eXistenZ where all your thoughts can be manipulated by someone else in a virtual reality game. I've also seen other sci-fi movies where a character's thoughts can be read or manipulated. I don't know how realistic this is, but I have a hard time wrapping my head around the idea that if all our thoughts can be manipulated that it wouldn't happen.

So, first off, let me say that this is not a discussion about the morality of such a technology. I'm not here to make an argument for or against the use of such a technology, but instead how such a technology could change your views on things. So, here's some questions:

1. Would you still care about the truth if you knew that everything you believed was a lie?

2. How would this change your views on religion or spirituality?

3. Would you care about the environment if you knew that all your concern for the environment was just someone's experiment?

4. If you knew that the reason you worked hard was because someone wanted to see if you would work hard even though it doesn't matter, would you still work hard?

5. If you found out that the reason you cared so much about your country was because your thoughts were being manipulated by a lab, would you still care as much about your country?

6. If you knew that the reason you liked a certain type of music was because your thoughts were being manipulated by a lab, would you still like that music as much?
