Is the purpose of life to seek pleasure?

The hedonistic view of life states that pleasure is the only thing that is intrinsically valuable. This means that pleasure is the only thing that is good in itself and the ultimate goal of life. This view was first stated in ancient Greece in the 3rd century BCE by Epicurus. This view of life was also followed by other ancient Greeks such as Epicure. In the 18th century, the French philosopher Julien Offray de La Mettrie revived the hedonistic view of life. He is known for his book L’Homme machine, which is one of the precursors of modern positivism.

I’m not asking you to agree with the hedonistic view of life, I’m just asking whether or not the purpose of life is to seek pleasure.

For those who don't agree with the hedonistic view, why do you not agree with it?

I personally don't agree with it, because it doesn’t take into account our need for social interaction and our desire for meaningful relationships and love.
