As a white male, I'm tired of being associated with the sins of the forefathers of my people and, even worse, the sins of people who share my race but don't share the same culture or religion or political beliefs.

I have black friends, but they always tell me "you can't be our spokesperson because your experience is totally different from mine, even if you are a good guy".

What should I do? Should I give up the moral high ground, pretending that all of us are morally equal? Or should I continue to fight for justice and equality, hoping that my people and my culture will be seen as good people who want to do good?

I am not sure if it is racist to fight for racial equality.
