I'm a dad. I've been one for about six months now. Suddenly, all my buddies who had kids before me don't want to hang out as much anymore. I get it. Now, my other guy friends are like, "Dad, what's up?" And I'm like, "Not much, dude. I'm a slave to the baby machine, just so, so tired, and I can't go anywhere without thinking about whether Baby is okay or not."

But I love it. I was late to the party, but I am a dad now, and I'm gonna be a dad for the foreseeable future. My girl and I are at that rough patch where we're separated and not hurry to get back together anytime soon. So, I'm a single dad, right here, right now.

And truth is, it's not so bad. I get to spend the entire day with my baby daughter, Luna. I get to read her books, rock her to sleep, and feed her when she cries in the middle of the night. I get to be a dad.

And, well, I'm not gonna get another woman pregnant. I've tried, umm, preventing pregnancy. I'm on the pill. I get regular check ups. I think I don't got STDs. And, well, I'm pretty monogamous. NTA for anything otherwise, just saying.

But, I'm 26, and I'm a single dad, living with my mom. That's pretty much the opposite of what I had planned for my life. I'm an accountant, and I'm pretty good at it. I make decent money, but not enough to afford my own place.

So, I'm here, with my mom. With my daughter and ex girlfriend. Well, she's not here, but she's just down the street. I'm sure she'd come if we called her, though. My daughter's room is across the hall from mine. I have always kept the monitor on, just out of habit. I don't need it, my girl is right down the hall.

Luna was asleep when I went to bed, and I turned the monitor on for old times sake. I picked up the call if you want something from Walmart, Brads, btw, and the battery's just fine. A few mistakes people have made recently about monitors.

I turned it on, and the camera was clear as day. Luna was sleeping. She was all snuggled in her pink quilt with her little pink rabbit staring down at her. I could see her breathing. She was sleeping peacefully, and I could see her breathing gurgle when she pulled the nipple into the back of her throat.

Then, out of the corner of my eye, something passed by quickly. I looked at the monitor tilted a little, and the whole room was empty. Then, about half a minute later, I saw Luna sort of jump in bed. I heard a slight thump. It sort of looked like she did that silly puppy jump when you jerk a dog's ears.

I turned off the monitor, got out of bed, went down the hall, and went into Luna's room. She was lying on her back, sleeping. She was breathing deeply. No funny faces or positions to speak of. I could've sworn I saw her jump. I was so convinced of it I turned the camera back on. She was sleeping.

I left her alone, thinking it had been my tired eyes. I went back to bed, passed out, and woke up a couple hours later to Luna's cries. I guess someone forgot to change her diaper. She was screaming and I was half-asleep. I got her calm down a bit, changed her, fed her, rocked her a bit, and she went to sleep.

I went back to my room, passed out again, and woke up a few hours later to more crying. I went down and found her awake, but otherwise okay. I did the same things as before and she went back to sleep.

This went on for the whole night. Every few hours, she'd wake up. I'd take care of her, she'd go back to sleep. In the morning, my mom was confused. She said she never heard Luna cry all night.

I was going to say something about what happened, but I thought I was dreaming those parts. I decided not to say anything. And here, now, I'm asking for you guys' opinions. What the hell was that?
