My wife has been peeking at me from around corners and behind furniture. It's gone from weird to scary

It started about a year ago - soon after our little girl, Chloe, was finally born. My wife, Kate, was happy, just... different.

She would often peek around corners at me. At first, it was sort of funny. I wouldn't see her, and would freak out, before realizing it was Kate. But it got worse. She would stand in doorways and smile at me. It was weird, but I decided to just play along.

The pranks got better, and more sophisticated. She blindfolded me and took me out for dinner, or to the beach in the middle of the night. She lit tiny fires in the fireplace at home and guided me over, blindfolded, to make it seem like magic. I was working a lot at the time, but I still remember how much it lifted my spirits.

And then, things shifted.

I was up very early in the morning, working, and saw Kate standing in the kitchen doorway. She was staring at me and, for a moment, her face wasn't a happy, playful mask. I really looked at her, and saw an underlying expression of horror. It happened so fast, and she quickly put it back behind her smile, but it was there.

"Ash, what do you see?"

"Just your creepy face," I said.

But after that, the jokes stopped. Instead, the peeks became more sinister. I would catch her watching me, but she would just stare. No smile. Just... just watching me. I began to look over my shoulder in public places, and to feel followed.

And when we were home, I started catching glimpses of her out of the corner of my eye. She would be in the doorway, or standing next to me, but never quite present. It was like she was trying to tell me something, but I couldn't understand.

And Chloe. Our baby. She's been affected too.

We put her to bed twice a night, so we can get a few hours rest. When we check on her, she's usually just sleeping, but a few nights ago, I checked on her and saw Kate. She was standing over the baby, just staring at her. The baby wasn't crying. Just sleeping. But Kate looked... frightened.

I knocked over a jug of water as I turned to get out of the room.

"Hey. I was just... you know, checking on Chloe."

She didn't answer.

Things have got worse, fast. I took Chloe to the park this week and felt like I was being watched. I looked back, and a woman who looked exactly like Kate was sitting on a bench, staring at us.

I went up to her, and she wasn't wearing any makeup. I could see the every-day mom I had once known beneath it.

"Hey. Isn't Chloe growing fast?"

She stared back at me.

"Hey. Are you okay?"

She didn't answer.

I took Chloe home, and when we got there, I ignored Kate and went straight upstairs.

I'm writing this right now. I'm so scared. My lovely wife has changed and I have no idea why. And whenever I try to talk to her about it, she doesn't answer.

I don't know what to do. This may be the last you hear from me.

If you're reading this, that means I haven't gone mental. It means Kate really has gone crazy, and we have to get Chloe away from her.

If anyone is still reading, please help.

I love my family.

And, if anyone wants to bottle this stuff, a guy at my work is looking to buy...
