I'm tired of people saying "well you're just going to have to be better and find a girlfriend then". What does that even mean

This has been happening a lot lately, people will come up to me and ask if I have a girlfriend and I say no, and they're like "well you're just going to have to be better then". What am I supposed to do to make myself attractive to women? I'm already trying, I'm doing what I can and it's just not working. I'm so fucking depressed because of it.
