In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, many black Americans moved from the rural South to the cities of the North and Midwest to escape Jim Crow. However, many of these migrants were met with racial violence, known as "black scare" or "black flight," in which white communities would use intimidation, riots, and sometimes violence to push black families out. One notable example is the 1910s riots in East St. Louis, Illinois. How can we prevent similar violence from happening again today, especially with rising racial and economic tensions? What policies, programs, or community efforts could help prevent racial violence and create inclusive and equitable communities?<br>#####
