How do we explain to our kids the genocide of the Native Americans?

Recently, I was told by a couple of people that we should not teach our children about the genocide of the Native Americans. One said that it would create anger, bitterness and hatred in our kids, the other that it was unnecessary and it would be better to focus on something else. <br><br>We cannot focus on anything else if we live in this country. We cannot have an understanding of the United States without knowing the truth about Native Americans. We can't understand the greatness of our country without knowing its history of oppression. We can't know America if we don't know what was done to the Native American.<br><br>How do you tell your kids about the genocide of the Native Americans?
