Does anyone else feel like gun ownership is slowly becoming a political game?

I live in the US and the way it feels like gun ownership is slowly becoming political and being attacked by people who have never held a gun is getting to me. I have been an avid hunter since I was a kid and my father took me hunting for the first time at the age of 8. I have held an ccw permit for years, own an ar15, sig sauer 9mm, remington 870, and a marlin 45/70 for protection and hunting. I’m getting to the age where my back problems are becoming worse and I can no longer hunt or do what I used to love as much. I just wish politics wouldn’t ruin something I enjoy doing and make it seem like I’m some right wing extremist when in reality I’m just a guy that likes hunting and protecting my family.
