This is a throwaway account but I also posted this on my main.

I'm 20M and live with my parents, I've always been very anti-gun and anti-militia. My uncle is a Marine and works as an armoured car guard, he owns multiple guns and owns a pit bull. My uncle lives with his partner and their dogs in the middle of nowhere, one day my family decided to visit.

While we were there, the dogs got loose and started roaming around, one of them ran into the shed where my uncle keeps his guns, while he was busy outside he noticed that he had left the door open and all the guns pointed towards the dogs. He instantly ran after them and was able to chase the dogs back and close the door, if he didn't have quick reflexes the outcome could have been terrible.

This event was very eyeopening for me, I've always associated gun owners with militia types or rednecks, but the incident showed that responsible gun owners are people who want to keep their families safe.

I realise that I'm just as dumb as the people I always made fun of, the incident made me think that if I had a family one day I would want to protect them.

I decided to buy my first airsoft gun, but I've been doing some research into real guns, what type should I start off with, ig anyone has suggestions that would be great.
