So last week a man broke into my house at 10:30PM, I got the call from my doorbell camera. I live alone with my 3-year-old son. I got my daughter from next door and we ran into my house. I got my AR and shotgun and waited in my bedroom.

He walked past the camera door and went straight to my bedroom. I told my daughter to get on the floor, but not to move. The intruder walked in and said "I know you've got a gun" to which I replied "It's registered." He then said he was there to kill my wife, I informed him she was at work. He then said he was going to kill me, to which I replied, "Go right ahead."

He shot at me and I returned fire with my AR. I struck him in the abdomen and public defender lawyers are now saying I could've avoided the situation.

How do I respond to these lawyers when my primary intent was to protect myself and my family?
