I think I'm just too scared to own a firearm.

I live in a pretty nice part of town. No crime, and I never worried about my family's safety. But recently a man came into the local pharmacy shooting and killed two people and injuring 14 others.

My parents have always told me that they believe owning a gun is too dangerous, and they don't think that owning one is a good idea. But hearing about this shooting just scared me. I really want to own a firearm for my protection, and my family's protection. But I just don't feel comfortable with owning a gun. I don't think I could ever be in a situation where I had to shoot someone and live with myself. But I don't feel safe without one either.

For those of you who own a gun, what's it like having one? I've always been a pretty anti gun person. I never really had a reason not to be. But I really don't want to live in fear of something like this happening to me and my family. But I don't know how I can feel safe otherwise. I guess it's just too much for me, because I'm not sure if I want to own a gun.

Thanks for listening. I guess I just needed to write this out.
