Why would a 15 year old want to buy a gun?

I’m not American but my best friend is and he’s thinking of getting a gun license. I’ve known him since we were 7 and he’s been with guns his whole life and has never even been in a fight. I don’t really get the appeal. <br><br>Why would you want a gun if you’ve never even been in a dangerous situation before? Is it just so you can go hunting and to protect yourself?<br><br>What would be the appeal of a hand gun? I know there’s lots of different types and stuff but I’m not really sure which type of gun you would want.<br><br>Also I’ve heard it costs around $800 to get a gun license, is that true?
