Gun owner's dilemma: how much should I tell?

As an Australian, I've always been pretty pro-gun control. But then I moved to the US and bought an AR15.<br><br>My partner, also from Australia, doesn't know I bought a gun.<br><br>The thing is, my partner is anti gun. So am I. If they knew I bought a gun, they'd be upset and worried (fair enough). And I guess I'd feel the same way if the roles were reversed.<br><br>I'm not planning on buying more guns. Right now it's just the one AR15.<br><br>But... knowing how our government might try to confiscate guns, knowing how much it would suck to not be able to defend ourselves or our home if need be...<br><br>Should I keep my gun a secret from my partner and maybe never tell them? Should I tell them now, while I only have one gun, so they understand my reasons?<br><br>Or is there a third option I'm not seeing?
