I'm not sure I agree with this

I've been reading the news about the mass shooting in Dayton Ohio. The story is that the shooter was a dirtbag white guy. He's being hailed as a hero by some, his family has gotten threatening phone calls, and he's being praised as some kind of "good guy with a gun". I'm not sure I agree. I mean the shooter wasn't even in the same area where the shooting started. I think he was just looking for action, and the fact that there were multiple victims didn't matter to him. The fact that he shot someone that looked like his ex girlfriend didn't matter to him. He just wanted to be a "hero" and get praise. And the fact that he was rewarded with praise and accolades, it just doesn't seem right. I'm not sure if the fact that he was rewarded for killing someone is going to make other people think he was a hero.
