The second amendment was written over 200 years ago and was enacted for the following reasons:

1) to allow for the ability to protect oneself and ones family from invaders or criminals.

2) to allow for the ability to be part of a well trained militia that can be called upon by the government to protect our nation.

It was never written for the following reasons:

1) to allow people to shoot each other in the face over stupid shit

2) to allow mass shootings to happen so the gun manufacturing companies can make money

3) to allow mentally unstable people to shoot up schools or other places that would not purposefully be targeted by a sane person.

I can't just walk up to Apple and say "I want to own your product, I have a right to own your product," and expect them to just hand me their product. If I want an iPhone, I am either going to buy it from them or, in some cases, steal it from them.

The same should go for guns. If you want one, purchase it. Or better yet, not create such an obsession over them. The second amendment is outdated. The second amendment was written by white, (likely) male slave owners who didn't want the regular every day citizen to have the ability to stand up to them in an armed revolt. The same white, (likely) male slave owners who wrote the constitution had some of the harshest restrictions and laws on certain races and genders. If you don't like what the second amendment and constitution says, you have the right to peacefully protest it at the polls or through your vote. The second amendment was written a long time ago, a long long time ago, and should no longer be considered. Not to mention, there are already protections in place for an armed citizenry to protect itself from invaders or a tyrannical government, such as the 4th amendment. You have no right to bear arms. Period.
