I had a savings account at a bank and the bank was sold. The new bank didn’t have an online platform for accounts under a certain balance, so my account was closed. I withdrew the money and put it in a credit union. The credit union didn’t have an online platform, so I kept the money in cash at home.

Then the credit union was sold. The new bank had an online platform, so the accounts at the old credit union were transferred to the new bank. I logged in to check it out and saw that they had an investment option, which allowed me to put a small portion of my money into stocks. I invested, and suddenly my money was worth much more.

I never would have done this if I still had a cash-only account at the bank.
