I recently took a job that seemed perfect. I'm a woman of colour, in tech, in Canada. My company is one of the most successful tech startups in the country, with a great track record for diversity and pay equity. The company is owned by a female entrepreneur of colour, and the CEO is also a woman. The team I'm working with is super smart, nice, and inclusive.

That's why it's so jarring that my manager is an asshole.

I know how to deal with assholes, or at least I think I do. I can handle them just fine when I'm in a professional setting and I'm paid to. But I'm not sure how to deal with my manager outside of work. We're always together because of the pandemic, and I'm starting to feel unsafe.

My boss is an a**hole. He is sexist, misogynistic, homophobic, racist, transphobic, and I think ableist. He is mean, cruel, and abusive. He uses racist, misogynistic slurs all the time, and he is obsessed with my body. He constantly makes sexual comments to me, and I've told him to stop a million times. He is abusive, emotionally manipulative, and gaslighting. He has tried to recruit other employees to hate on me. He is abusive, both verbally and emotionally, and he is creating a hostile work environment.

I know that I can quit and walk away, but that would cost me a lot of money. I know that I can go to HR, but I'm not sure how that would go, and it might make my manager even worse.

What should I do?

**
