I'd rather starve than pay tax.

I'm a 20-year old student who has always thought about myself as somewhat of a progressive and open-minded person. Lately, however, I've come to a realisation that I cannot pay taxes under any circumstances.

My country, the UK, is a complete wasteland. A third-world country. The government has ruined my education, they've ruined the NHS, they've ruined the environment, they've ruined everything. On top of that, they're driving up inflation and making everything more expensive. I can barely afford to feed myself and pay for my student accommodation, and it's about to get a lot worse. On top of this, our government is considering bringing back the 35p tax rate, which would affect people earning around £27k/year. I'm sure most people in this situation, and me, are barely scraping by. Why should I, or anyone else, contribute to a system that is clearly so incompetent and incapable of doing anything good?

I'm not going to pay into a system that I don't believe in, a system that doesn't help me, a system that is fundamentally immoral and unjust. Why should I be taxed when I can't even get help when I need it? Why should I pay when other people are being paid millions to do nothing? Why should I pay when it's just going to get wasted on some pointless military intervention or some stupid project that is going to fail?

I'm not afraid of jail, or starving. I'm not afraid of being arrested or put into debtors' prison. If I get arrested for not paying tax, I'll just rot in there and prove to everyone that I'm right. If I starve, I'll just let myself die, because it's better to die than to pay into a corrupt system. I'm willing to sacrifice myself for what I believe in, because no one else will. If no one is going to resist this awful system, then I will be the one to do it. I'll never pay tax, I'll die first.

I know there will be people who disagree with me. I expect this. I know some of you will say things like "without taxes there would be no infrastructure" or "without taxes, poor people would die of starvation". I know it's bullshit, but I still want to hear your opinion.

What do you think about my stance on taxes? Do you agree with me?
