I stole a $400 bottle of champagne that I didn't want.

A wedding that I attended several years ago was one of the most stressful and overwhelming events I have been to. There were around 100 guests, and I was one of the bridesmaids. I am a woman in my 20s, and I don't drink.

The wedding was at a fancy restaurant. I was put in charge of buying the champagne for the toasts. The other bridesmaids and I were arguing over what to get, and I just wanted it to be over, so I told them to just get a fancy one and I'll cover it. One of them recommended a bottle that was $400. I said fine and we left to go buy it.

I just wanted to get the champagne over with. I didn't want it to be such an expensive one. I was worried that it would make me feel like I owed the groom and that it would make me feel like I would have to drink it. So I hid the expensive bottle in the hotel room that my fiancé and I shared, and I brought a much cheaper bottle to the wedding instead.

The wedding was over in a few days, and I came back to my hotel room to pack up to leave. I saw the champagne and just grabbed it without thinking much of it. I still have it now.

I have a feeling that I might be caught with this soon, but I just don't care enough to get rid of it. It was just too much to handle and I didn't want to deal with it, so I stole it. It's been sitting in my fridge for years now.
