I lied to a child about the importance of the American flag and I regret it.

One time I was working at this restaurant and a young boy came in and asked if I could get him the American flag cup from the center of the dishwasher. I said no. He asked out of his younger sister’s ear shot why he couldn’t have it and I said that the flag cup is only given to adults who can handle the challenge it presents and that it cleans up faster than any other cup we have. He asked if he could fill it with milk and I said sure me (manager’s son) bet you can’t get through a glass of milk with that cup. He said, “Watch me!” and walked out of the restaurant with the glass. I felt bad and now every time I see the American flag I feel bad.
