I stole $40 from my mom

When I was about 4 my mom and I were at the grocery store, I saw this really cool pack of gum. I didn't want it and just wanted to look at it, so I asked the lady working there if I could hold it and she said yes. I started looking at all the flavors and when my mom came up to the checkout I hid the pack behind my back and when we got home I put it in my room.<br><br>I forgot all about it until a week or so later when I was looking for my lunch money, I found it in a bowl in my room. It was a little wrinkled, but it was still a lot better than the gum we got at the store.<br><br>I kept it for a while, but eventually gave it to a friend who I got into a trade for some stickers, a piece of candy, and a 50 cent stamp.<br><br>The first day I didn't tell my mom I had stolen it, she was asking about it and I just told her that I must have gotten it from my dad (who wasn't there) and she said I could keep it if I wanted to.<br><br>The next day she noticed it was gone and she asked me if I had taken it, I said yes, but I told her that I didn't know it was missing at first. She asked me if I had moved it anywhere, and I told her I had, but she just said that she understood and that was that.<br><br>I think she was just being nice about it, but I hope she never finds out.
