What do you think about the left's claim that the right doesn't care about protecting kids?

I'm a very active gun owner and carry daily. I would never allow someone to harm a kid. I would literally take a bullet to protect kids. I don't understand why the left says the right doesn't care about protecting kids. I would also never let someone else harm kids either.
