NFTs are actually a good concept

I guess I already lost a lot of people there, but hear me out. What I don't like about NFTs are 2 things:

- people creating and buying them as an investment
- people thinking that digital art should be paid equivalently to real-world art

However, I think NFTs are a great idea, but they would be even better if they were open sourced, there was no scarcity, anyone could mint an NFT, and they should easily be shareable. Why do I think this? I think it would be a great way for digital artists to easily prove that they are the owner of a work of art, and not lose that proof forever. If a digital artist created a piece of art on a closed platform like Instagram, Facebook, Tumblr, etc, there is no guarantee that in 10 or even 5 years that platform will still be around. It's much safer to have them on a decentralized blockchain for the future, where even if Facebook and other social media platforms die, there is a certificate of ownership that can never be lost for as long as the owner wants. Sure an artist could do this on a personal website, but that would require a good amount of technical knowledge, so it would only be available to a select few on a blockchain if it was expensive, but if anyone could mint an NFT, anyone would be able to prove ownership. If a digital artist created a piece of art on a closed platform, and then put the picture on a blockchain, they would have a proof easily accessible to the world that they created a piece of art, which is something that is currently very hard or expensive to do.
