CMV: A "right to bear arms" should be changed to "right to own arms" so it can be taken away from anyone found mentally unstable

My view is that the 2nd amendment should be changed so that it's the "right to own arms" rather than "right to bear arms" so that those found to be mentally unstable can be stripped of their firearms.<br><br>Reasoning behind my view:<br><br>* You don't need to carry weapons everywhere, the right to bear arms is about self-defense. However, you should have the right to own weapons for hunting, sport, etc.<br>* The 2nd amendment is outdated, it was written in the 18th century. If you don't change it, you can't do anything about it.<br>* I'm sure it's possible to change an amendment. <br><br>Reasons against my view:<br><br>* There's a lot of mental illnesses, if you make people turn in their firearms, you're not going to get all of them.<br>* This is a slippery slope. How are we going to determine what mental illnesses disqualify you from owning firearms?<br><br>The idea behind this is to take away guns from people who have mental illnesses but I'm not sure if this is feasible.
