A new way for people to make friends.

Here is a rough description of a new app that helps people make new friends, by connecting them over shared interests.<br><br>The goal of the app is to help people meet up and have experiences with new people. <br><br>The idea is this:<br><br>- The user answers several questions about what they like to do for fun, what they are good at and what they want to get better at.<br><br>- The user defines if they are a beginner, intermediate or expert in those activities. <br><br>- The user selects if they prefer to participate in those activities on the weekends or during the week.<br><br>- The user creates a profile with their name, phone number, age and profile picture. <br><br>- The user is able to see a list of groups that match their criteria. For example, if a person said they like hiking and swimming, they will see groups that are for people who like swimming, and groups that are for people who like hiking.<br><br>- The groups are divided into 3 sub categories: beginner, intermediate, advanced. <br><br>- Within the groups, if a user selects beginner hiking, they will only see beginner hiking groups. <br><br>- The groups are run by community moderators, who are people who are experts in that activity. The groups are defined by activity, difficulty level, location and time. <br><br>- People can join groups and chat with other members. <br><br>- The app allows people to RSVP for upcoming group activities. So for example, if a hiking group is going on a hike this Saturday, users can RSVP and chat with each other if needed. <br><br>- The app allows users to give other users a “thumbs up” if they show up to events, and to block other users if they are shady or weird. <br><br>- People can create their own groups and become moderators. <br><br>- The moderators create events for the group and the app sends out reminders to everyone in the group. <br><br>- People can RSVP for events and the app will send reminders. <br><br>- If people constantly RSVP for events and don’t show up, or constantly create events and cancel, they will get a warning. If it continues, they will get kicked out of the app. <br><br>- The app has a simple messaging system and allows users to see each other’s profiles. <br><br>- There is a rating system for the groups, and the groups with the highest rating are displayed towards the top of the list.<br><br>This is the basic idea. I have also conducted surveys and talked with many people who have used similar apps, and I am convinced this is a unique approach to getting people off their phones and socializing face to face.
