I purposely didn't catch a thrown football so that my brother can catch one

It was in 5th grade, and for our field day we were sub divided in to 3 groups. One played bouncy games ( bouncy boxing, bouncy ball toss, etc. ) 2nd played lawn games ( bocce ball, croquet, etc. ) and 3rd played toss games like football, baseball, and frisbee.

The class had a competition to see which group can come up with the most catches in the 45 minutes we were playing. Also, the kid with the most catches overall in the class would win a extra large cookie from the cafeteria ( in reality, we don't get to pick the snack, but still it was cool )

Now my brother was also in the same grade as me, although he was in a lower grade level. When he was born, the doctor told us that he had bad eyesight, and by bad eyesight I mean we're lucky that he can see anything in the first place. He can't even count his fingers without looking at it closely. Since then, he became the pride of our family, although I was the favorite by a long shot.

My brother can't catch a football to save his life. In fact, we're not even sure if he can see the ball, or purposely avoiding it. Also, when he tries to catch, he fails miserably. He can't even catch a beach ball. It's pathetic. My friends find it entertaining since they can throw the ball at his face and he'll barely flinch.

The teacher was throwing the ball at random kids, and since I was the best catcher in the class, I'll most likely get the ball thrown at me. On purpose, I dropped the ball so that it lands somewhere else. I dropped the ball 3 times that day, and the 3rd time, it landed right in front of my brother. He caught it. Proudly, he showed the teacher the ball and told him that he caught it. ( It was pathetic, he can barely walk with his eyes down ) The teacher was amazed, since his teacher was also my teacher. He told the teacher that he's been practicing ( which he hasn't, we only practice catch after school and at nights ) The class cheered and everyone congratulated him. The teacher even gave him a 5th grade certificate. ( Our school makes certificates for everything )

And this is the pathetic part. He doesn't even know he dropped the ball. He thinks that he actually caught the ball on the first try. He feels that he's the best catcher in his grade, and even brags about it to his friends. He tried to throw the football back to the teacher and it landed somewhere far away. The class laughed. I didn't. I felt sorry for him.

I didn't get the cookie, but my brother did.

\*EDIT\*

I'm sorry for not responding to many of you guys, I have to re read all these comments and most of them make me upset. You're right, I shouldn't feel bad for him. I should be happy that my brother is happy.

\*EDIT2\*

Wow, I didn't expect my post to get this much attention. I think there's been a lot of confusion about the situation, so I'm just going to break it down here

He doesn't throw the ball at random kids, but a random sub group. ( If you have 40 kids, you can divide them in to 4 groups and throw the ball to a group. It's called a "toss" game for a reason )

The ball can easily be caught, it's not like the teacher is throwing the ball at our face. ( I mean common sense, if the teacher is purposely trying to hurt someone then I can't blame you for thinking that I purposely avoiding it )

I'm not the favorite, my brother is. ( He was the favorite since the day he was born )

PS I'm trying to respond to comments in order, but I'm still about 1000 comments behind so be patient
