I worked in a department called "Special Item" which is pretty much a bin you send anything that bleeps to. If the loss and found receives it they send it to our department. Pretty much I received bin after bin of backpacks, jackets, and laptops. You would not believe how many people just leave their shit at the airport. Over 6 months I received over 100 backpacks and 40 laptops. I made sure they all didn't have anything in them before I took them home and since we didn't have bleeping sensors on the way out the door, it made it very easy and tempting to just make off with so many items. I never did get caught nor did I feel bad about it. The airport had no beneficial reason to keep a laptop or backpack it's not like they are gonna open the backpack and check for anything, they just throw it into a bin. The only thing they care to hold onto is people's jewelry and expensive purses because those can easily be resold. So I used the laptops and backpacks for personal use and sometime resold them for a good amount of money.
