Disagreement with parents about 3rd grade curriculum

I’m looking for advice on how to navigate a 3rd grade content disagreement I have with a parent. I teach in the US, but I am not in the US. I am an international school with a global student body. We are discussing the content of native English speaking students of this grade level.

I had a meeting with a parent yesterday to discuss their views on my curriculum, which they feel is too mature for their child. I have been teaching this subject for 7 years, including 2 years in a US public school. In my experience, the content I am teaching is aligned with what 3rd grade students are learning in elementary school in the US. I have 2 children of my own, a 6th grader and a 4th grader, and have a good sense of what kids know at different ages.

I am not sure where to take this conversation next. I offered to adjust her child’s homework to make it easier in case it is too frustrating. That was not what she wanted, she wanted me to adjust the content of the curriculum. I asked her if she would like to come and observe a class to see if it was too mature in a group setting, and that was a no.

Any advice on where to go from here?
