CMV: If you support Trump you must support the Confederate flag

I’ve been arguing with my dad lately who voted for Trump. I don’t believe he supports all of the things that Trump does and I believe he is voting against Joe Biden more than anything. <br><br>He will not listen to any anti-Trump arguments so I am forced to make the following statement. <br><br>I do not support Trump and I believe him to be a horrible person. However I believe that this country is not a democracy, but a republic. In a democracy the will of the people is supreme and is law. In a republic the people elect leaders to make decisions for the betterment of the people. I believe that our country was founded as a republic and that it is the best form of government for this nation. I don’t agree with Trump on many things but he has my support because he has the best interest of the people in mind, not the will of the people.<br><br>I do not support the confederate flag and do not believe that it represents our nation. I do support the idea of states being allowed to make some of their own laws to better suit their residents, as long as they are in the best interest of the nation. I do not believe that the confederacy wanted the best for our nation and I do not believe that they were in the right, morally or legally, when they attempted to secede from the nation. <br><br>I do not support violence or racism and I do not believe that they should be allowed. However, I do not believe that the confederacy represents what our nation stands for. <br><br>I do not believe that this nation is a democracy but rather a republic. I do not believe that we should just follow the majority and make laws to better the majority. I believe that this nation was founded on the idea that “all men are created equal” and that we should treat everyone fairly and equally. I do not believe that our nation was ever intended to be a theocracy. I do believe that the confederacy attempted to make our nation a theocracy and I do not believe that they should be supported.
