CMV: Trump should be allowed to run again

First off, I’m not saying I think he will win or that he should. <br><br>I think he should be allowed to run again for several reasons:<br><br>1. The first amendment protects the freedom of the press, speech, religion, and peaceable assembly. I feel that Trump being prevented from running is a restriction on the freedom of speech, and I’m not sure where to draw the line. <br><br>2. The current polls are a reflection of the way politics are being covered. If you don’t watch the news or use any form of social media, you don’t know who Trump is or what he believes. I’m not saying you’d vote for him, but I don’t think you’d know what you’re voting for if you don’t take the time to inform yourself. <br><br>3. I’ve heard people say that Trump’s platform is based on misinformation and lies, but I don’t think that’s necessarily true. I think the problem is that he is using language in a way that is unfamiliar to the media. The media and Trump are talking past each other, rather than to each other. <br><br>4. The 22 million people that voted for Trump should have their voices heard again, even if I don’t agree with what they’re saying. <br><br>5. The only reason I can see for why Trump should be prevented from running is that he would lose. I think that’s wrong. <br><br>Now I understand that there is a valid argument to be made for why Trump should be prevented from running again. What is it?
