Any former shoplifters in here?

I put the "former" in quotation marks because I used to shoplift in high school and I still stole things from time to time in college. Although, I've since gotten a better job and my financial situation has improved. Finding myself in a better place, I thought that I wouldn't steal anymore since I wasn't desperate for anything.

As I was grocery shopping today, I constantly had to find it in myself not to swipe things. That feeling of being on high alert, ready to take an item when I see no one watching, is some kind of paranoia/focus. I've always been able to stop myself before I've done it ever since I graduated but I always have to control myself when I'm in a store.

The first time I stole a Pepsi was the best feeling ever and I got hooked on the rush. I've gotta go back to therapy to get out of this mentality.
