If your kid can’t do something, it’s your fault.

So many parents want to blame us for their child’s lack of progress. It’s absolutely ridiculous. If a kid can’t do something after a year of trying, it’s not the teacher’s fault. If a kid is severely struggling to read, write, or do basic math, that’s on the parents. You have failed to support your child enough and it’s not the teacher’s responsibility to deal with a 5th grader who can’t read, or a high schooler who can’t do basic fractions.

I don’t care if your child has a diagnosis. If you want them to learn, you need to put in the work with them. And if you don’t want to do that, you need to accept that your child will struggle and it isn’t the teacher’s fault. We will do everything in our power to help, but if you won’t help at home, you are screwing your child over.
