CMV: You should not tip for delivery because you're tipping your boss for his company's convenience

The idea is to reward the person doing the work, which should be the driver.

I used to be a delivery driver for a popular food delivery app. I know how they make their profit margins, and I also know how the restaurants pay for "fees" for the company, and how much the driver gets for a delivery.

I know some of you might be able to pay a bit more for delivery, but I really don't think most people are in that boat. I understand not wanting to tip less for the convenience of the company. However, I think it's worth pointing out that your tip is more of a reward to the company for their service than it is a reward for the driver, considering they keep a significant portion of it. I've seen companies that take upwards of 30% of the tip before giving it to the driver.

I understand if you disagree with my perspective, and I'm happy to be corrected, but I really don't think tipping for delivery is worth it unless the driver is paid the entire tip.
