Everytime I go to sleep, I see a light flash strobe flash on my eyes. What is this?

I go to sleep, I see a flash of white light, like a strobe. It happens repeatedly for about a second, and then it's over. I'll be talking to my family, my husband, and then I come to and I'm talking to my family again. I've no idea what happens in between. I've been experiencing this for as long as I can remember.
