I just realized my carry gun is "too big" and that's okay

Been carrying a USP in .45 ACP on my right hip for the last 10 years or so. It's not a "wonder 9" or a "j frame killer," but I read a blog post this morning and am now questioning my carry gun.

It's just too big, to be honest. If I lived in a desert state with no humidity and didn't carry in the summer, I could probably get away with it. I think the best way to describe it is to imagine a warm bread stick. After you bring it home, you can hold it up to see the moisture trapped under the plastic bag. That's what my body does to my carry gun when it's 75°F and 80% humidity.

Security guards and LEOs have a lot different work environment. They sit in an air conditioned environment, and it shows when you read their reviews of the new Glock 48. It's too big.

I'm not going to carry a single stack .380 as a solution, but I am going to try a Glock 19X with a TLR-7A. If my OEM magazines don't fit in it, I'll probably sell it. I've got a few friends with carry Glocks, and they like them. Maybe it's time for me to get with the times ?

For those who are wondering about the "wonder 9" and "j frame killer," I'd like to make a few comments, as I carried a 9mm for several years. I think the single stack 9mm Glocks are great carry guns, but I don't carry a round jacketed bullet as my first choice for self-defense. As for the j frame killer, I'm a big guy at 6'4" and 270 lbs. I've got big hands, so the grip doesn't bother me, but I'm just not a big fan of carrying a .357 magnum revolver. I carried a j-frame for a few years, but I think I've probably sold 12-15 of them. They're nice guns, but they're just not for me.

Thanks for reading, and stay safe out there.

Edit: Please stop sending me pictures of your Glock. I get it, you love it, and it's a great gun. I'm going to try a Glock 19X. If it doesn't work for me, I'll go back to my USP.

I've got several more hours of overtime today, so I'll probably respond to your comment tomorrow. Thank you for the kind words and for sharing your experiences.
